RHD establishes acute care and CDU in Okolona Community Hospital

Rural Healthcare Developers has gained approval to construct a three-bed acute care hospital with a six bed chemical dependency unit at the closted Okolona Community Hospital. An extension of the hospital will be outpatient units in Okolona and surrounding communities.

The outpatient units will provide community residents with a facility for patients with emotional conditions as well as follow-up services for those who have undergone treatment at the CDU.

Construction of the new hospital, adjacent to a nursing home, is scheduled to begin in fall 2008.
